Sticky notes

Notes PP frequently asked questions

I have just downloaded the program. When I run the program it asks me to enter the admin password. Where can I find it?

When you run Notes PP for the first time after installation, you are prompted to choose the program security level and enter an administrative password. You can select any password you want but you have to remember it to get access to the Administrative tools and notes (for normal or high security level).

Every time I create a sticky note I have to enter the password. I'm the only user of my computer. I don't need high security.
If you are the only user on the computer and don't need to create password-protected notes, you can choose a low security level.

I have purchased Notes PP but the only version I have is a trial version
There is one download for a trial version and registered version. After you activate the program, it is a registered version. You do not need to reinstall the program.

When I try to remove the program I get a message telling me that Notes PP is running.
You should exit the program first.
To exit the program, right-click the tray icon and select 'Exit' or double click the desktop icon and select Exit. If you are not able to exit the program this way, find notespp.exe in the list of programs in the Task Manager and select 'End process'.
Then open the Start menu and select Programs -> MoRUN.net -> Notes PP -> Uninstall Notes PP
or
For Windows 7/Vista
run the 'Programs and Features' utility from the Windows Control Panel, select Notes PP in the list of installed programs, right-click and select uninstall
For Windows XP
run the 'Add/Remove Programs' utility from the Windows Control Panel, select Clear All History in the list of installed programs and click the Add/Remove button.

How do I create sticky notes on the desktop not to overlap other windows?
You should create notes with a low priority.
By default, new notes have a high priority. To change note's priority:
Right-click on the note and select Settings and then Priority.
Select the priority level you need.
Using the Default settings you can set a priority level for new notes.

How do I send sticky notes in email messages?
Right-click the note and select 'Send note' and then the 'Send Note as Email' option.
An email message will be created using your default email client. The title of the note will be copied as a subject and the body of the note will be inserted into the body of the message.
You can select recipient's information from the Address Book or enter it manually
Then click the 'Send' button.

How to send sticky notes to other computers
Right-click the note, select 'Send note' and then 'Send Note over LAN/WLAN or Internet'.
Enter or select recipient's information from the Address Book and click Send.
If you have any problems sending notes, make sure your firewall allows Notes PP to send information. If you need to modify your firewall settings, read your firewall documentation.
If a recipient has changed the listening port in the 'Network and Send/Receive Notes Settings', you must specify the current port number.

How to enable automatic notes backup
The program automatically creates backups of your notes database and Address Book on program exit. You can turn the automatic backup feature on or off at any time in the Administrative Tools.
To enable automatic backups, select the Backup Databases on exit option.

Where are backups located?
If the Store independent databases for each PC user option is on, backups for each user are stored in the user's Documents and Settings folder:
On Windows 7/Vista C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MoRUN.net\Npp\
On Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\MoRUN.net\Npp\
If the Store independent databases for each PC user option is off, backups are saved to the directory where the program is installed
by default C:\Program Files\MoRUN.net\NotesPlusPlus
Backup files include the product version and the date of creation:
backup_notespp_version_YYYY-MM-DD--HH-MM-SS.dat, e.g. backup_notespp_9.0_2010-05-30--06-29-58.dat

How can I restore notes from a backup file?
Exit the program.
If you don't want to remove the current sticker.dat file, save it with another name or in another folder. Then replace it with the necessary backup.
If you don't need the current sticker.dat file, just replace it with the necessary backup file.

How do I transfer notes?
If you want to upgrade the product version or move your notes to another product or computer you should use the export and import options
To export the notes double click the desktop icon and select 'Export'.
To import your notes double click the desktop icon and select 'Import'.
Note: backup files cannot be imported.

How do I configure the program to store independent databases for each PC user?
You should check the 'Store independent databases for each PC user' option in the Administrative tools.
This option is selected by default. A database for each user is stored in the user's Documents and Settings folder
If there are several users on your PC but they all need to use the same notes database, you should uncheck the 'Store independent databases for each PC user'. In this case your current notes database and the Address book will be copied to C:\Program Files\MoRUN.net\NotesPlusPlus. This directory can be accessed by any user on your PC.

How do I 'stick' notes to files
Right-click on the note and select Links and then Associate with files.
Choose the file (*.doc, *.xls, *.pdf) you want to associate the note with and click Open.
